Yellow Light on Green Jobs
Home / The Issues / Global Warming
U.S. Senator Kit Bond, from Missouri, recently prepared a report on the net effect of government subsidies for green jobs, called "Yellow Light on Green Jobs." This report exposes the economic inefficiencies of much of the government's policies that push for restoring our economy through green jobs. Often the opposite is accomplished, as much of the renewable energy industry is just not ready for the marketplace and government mandated central control is never as efficient of a driver as are direct market place dynamics.
I believe renewable energy is a bright part of our future, But mandating, and subsidizing systems that are not cost effective makes no sense at all. It drives up the overall cost of government, promotes the development of energy systems that are not economically viable, and discourages healthy, market place competition for energy systems that are economically viable.
Senator Bond's report highlights some of the reasons why we should stop and at the very least, consider more carefully President Obama's and Governor Ritter's call for more green jobs. You may review this report by clicking here.
